I’m single. OTR is very hard, maybe too hard, if you have family time requirements. Look for home daily/dedicated,or regional jobs. There are jobs where you can be home daily like food service, ready-made concrete, solid waste, brick & block, etc.
In my opinion, OTR is a countdown to divorce. OTR is what most companies need the most but that doesn’t mean OTR is for every driver. Keep looking for something that fits you & your family. It’s much cheaper to change jobs than change families.

I appreciate reply , it seems as though it’s a love hate relationship , but it’s good pay bad for family , but if u work walmart 40 hours and McDonald’s 20 hours u want be home much and barely pay bills it’s rough , as far as local it seems like it has its good and bad also I am kinda comfortable where I am and afraid to change, I am new so to go local would be crazy hours 3 am till 5 pm then go home be a vegetable make 10 backs a day which I am not great at seems each job has pros and cons I have weighed options and am lost would like to hear from Otr guys home each weekend how do u justify it etc RED VIKINg seems to be on a mission no care if family likes it or not I had that attitude one point in life should I get it back? It’s his military mission idea I guess , I have to leave today man I miss them then back fri leave Sun but I am making good , thanks for help and reply this trucking u need supportMay 29, 2017 at 5:55 pm #737
I may be wrong, but I thought Red was an empty-nester. Each type of driving has its pros & cons. I’m home daily. I work nights. Both cause some stress but avoid other stress.May 30, 2017 at 9:59 am #742
